The Battle of Saratoga
On September 19, 1777, in the city of Saratoga, New York, a key battle took place.
This was later known as the Battle of Saratoga. The main reason the British decided to attack Saratoga is because it was a central location for if they had won (wicth they didn't) it would devide the colinies. This event lasted twenty-eight days; that means it ended on October 17, 1777.

The main cammander for the Colonial forces was General Horatio Gates along with Col. Daniel Morgan and 20,000 colonial soldiers. I feel a little bad for the British because, General John Burgoyne and two others known as General Sir William Howe, and General Barry St. Leger only had 6,000 loyalists on there side. The number of casualties the Colonial less than 500; the British lost about one thousand loyalists.
In the end, General John Burgoyne surrendered at Saratoga, New York on October 17, 1777. The victory helped Benjarmin Feanklin convince France the the patriot could win. The Battle of Saratoga helped to change the fact that if the patriots it would change the amount of help Benjarmin Franklin would recive from the French that the patriots could win.
